Retail employs some 3 million people, creates a positive impact by being the main employer in towns and cities and helps maintain communities – employing the disadvantaged and marginalised and those with physical or mental difficulties.
However, the negative perception of working in retail is that it is a job that starts and ends on the shop floor. We know this isn’t true and working in retail provides a rich and rewarding career path.
Retail Matters Week provides a spotlight for an industry that almost everyone interacts with on a daily basis but where members of the public rarely see beyond their transactions. We want to show why retail is a great career choice.

Following on from our event in May, we're continuing our work on homelessness and how the retail and property sector can contribute positively to long-term, sustainable solutions.
As part of our Retail Matters Week, we will explore solutions that may provide some of the most vulnerable people in our society with secure and well-paid employment, valuable training and support and a safe place to stay. We would love for you to join us and hear your thoughts on the subject.
