We are delighted to be launching our new mentoring programme for Revo Hub members.

 

So what is mentoring?

 

It’s not coaching or training, but a more personalised yet professional approach to the skills needed to progress your career and nail that next promotion. It could be anything on how to enter a negotiation, present with impact, what does good leadership mean, to communicating with confidence.

Industry professionals from the following organisations have put their names into the hat and are looking for their mentees...

Cushman & Wakefield, Waterman Structures, Hoare Lea, Lunson Mitchenall, Ellandi, Leslie Jones, Charles Russell Speechlys.

Now for the competition….we didn’t say it was going to be easy! You have to bid for a spot.

On this 12 month programme you will get one to one time with your mentor, guidance on how to brush up your skills and, with a bit of TLC, will set you apart from your peers.

Heather Cross, Senior Associate in the Real Estate team at Charles Russell Speechlys LLP.

Heather is a senior associate in Charles Russell Speechlys LLP’s real estate team.

She advises on a wide range of real estate transactions including acquisitions and disposals, pre-lets for national retailers, restaurants and leisure clients, business tenancies (landlords and tenants), corporate occupier work (including headquarter relocations), portfolio and property management, commercial and residential development schemes (including site assembly, funding, contaminated land, option and overage agreements), environmental issues, insolvency, property finance, student accommodation and corporate support. Her clients include national retailers, leisure clients, companies, charities, healthcare organisations, overseas investors, developers, financial institutions and trusts.

She is an expert in the retail and leisure sector and is part of Revo’s asset management committee. She is also a member of the Commercial Real Estate Legal Association (CRELA) and the Association of Women Solicitors.

 

Phil Grew, Senior Partner at Hoare Lea.

A chartered engineer, Phil is a senior Partner at Hoare Lea. Phil has been with the partnership for over 20 years, leading their focus on major retail led developments, town centre regeneration projects and mixed use schemes for the majority of his career.

Helping clients deliver some of the most challenging schemes, his work profile in the retail sector includes Cabot Circus Bristol, Oracle Reading, The Lexicon Bracknell, Watermark Southampton and intu Watford.

Part of the leadership team at Hoare Lea, Phil’s commercial focus is as the Head of Retail for the firm. Phil currently chairs the Revo Technical Affairs Committee and has been part of the Revo Gold Awards judging panel.

 

Simon Anderson, Asset Manager at Ellandi.

For the last 5 years, Simon has worked as an Asset Manager at Ellandi implementing a number of investment strategies for a wide variety of landlords. He is now the Lead Asset Manager for the Chenavari Investment Management and Englander Family shopping centre portfolios.

Currently, Simon'srole has a particular focus on repurposing a town centre for long term viability, which has involved building relationships with local authorities and key stakeholders to open up opportunity.

Simon is also a member of Revo and sits on the Educational Strategy Committee.

 

Neil Hockin, Director at Lunson Mitchenall.

Neil has worked as an agent in the retail property sector for 30 years and has advised clients from across the industry on a broad range of shopping centres and leisure developments across the UK.  Current instructions include Brent Cross, Churchill Square Brighton and intu Braehead. 

He is a member of the Revo advisory panel where he is also involved with organising international study tours and a Chartered Surveyor. 

 

Karen Telling, Director at Waterman Structures.

Karen is a chartered structural engineer and has been at Waterman Structures for the past 22 years. In her role as a Board Director and Head of the Mixed Use – Urban Regeneration team, she has gained considerable experience working on developments of varying types and sizes. 

She is a Chartered Civil and Structural Engineer and acts as a supervising Civil Engineer with responsibility for both Civil and Structural graduates. In January 2018, she was made a Fellow of the Institute of Civil Engineers.

Karen is an active member of the Revo Technical Affairs Committee involved at the forefront of all issues relating to mixed use and retail developments.

 

Andrew Ogg, Consultant Architect and former MD at Leslie Jones Architects.

Andrew Ogg is a specialist retail, commercial and urban design consultant based in London UK.  He is a Past President of Revo, and was Founder and Managing Director of Leslie Jones Architecture, one of the UK’s leading retail and urban design specialists. 

He was responsible for the design, delivery and renovations of major regionals at Merry Hill, Lakeside and Westfield Stratford, leisure and lifestyle centres at Wembley City and Livingston;  urban city centre regenerations at Friars Walk Newport Wales and Charter Place Watford, and major refurbishment and extensions at Wandsworth Southside and Intu Newcastle.

Andrew also helped set up the RDDA Shopping Centre Awards Programme for the South African Council of Shopping Centres and currently serves as Chairman of their Awards Jury.

 

James Cons, Managing Director at Leslie Jones Architecture

James oversees the day-to-day running of Leslie Jones Architecture along with fellow director, Brian Tracey. As Managing Director, he provides both clients and team members with a consistent point of management, leadership and project direction.

James’ skills blends creative acumen, rigorous technical knowledge and strategic project management. He provides clients with comprehensive, market leading advice across all work stages, from feasibility to delivery. He excels in collaboration with clients, fellow designers and contractors, developing excellent working relationships with all stakeholders. A highly active contributor to the property and retail communities, James has been a member of the Technical Affairs Committee for the British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC) and now chairs the REVO Gold Awards Jury.

 

Julian Burnett, VP Global Markets, IBM

Julian is a digital, technology and business transformation leader ranked in the CIO Top 40 in 2018 and has executive and C-level experience across retail, consumer products and supply chain industries. As VP, Global Markets - Distribution, he leads IBM's business in the UK covering these market sectors.


Julian has held CTO, CIO and Supply Chain leadership positions at Sainsbury’s, John Lewis and House of Fraser, where in each he designed and led large scale digital and technology enabled business transformation initiatives. Julian sits on the GS1 Apparel Board, is an Advisor to Retail Week Tech, an international conference on digitally enabled commerce, and advises and campaigns with Business Disability International upon the role of technology in enhancing the opportunities and experiences of disabled customers and colleagues in the work place.
