Good quality, well designed public realm is a joy to behold! It can make us feel free, energised, inquisitive, creative and it can be the difference between us revisiting a place or not.
For me, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of public realm is the Kings Cross redevelopment. With its tree-lined, wide open spaces; grassy steps leading down to the canal; and children playing in the spontaneous water fountains, this is the kind of public realm that makes you feel good.
