Having grown up in Altrincham and the surrounding areas for the majority of my life, I have seen it change and transform over the years.
Altrincham Market has been a fixture in the town of Altrincham since 1290 and is an integral part of its day to day business.
With the opening of the Trafford Centre and the recession, the market and the town centre were badly hit. Empty units were a permanent fixture and it was named one of Britain’s “ghost towns” in 2010.
This represented a significant decline in popularity for a town that had been considered one of the best in the Greater Manchester region for decades.
It is no secret that the town has struggled, but as we begin 2016, Altrincham is definitely on the up.
