Customer Comes First at BCSC ACE Awards

2014 ACE Winners announced 


The retail property industry descended on Birmingham this evening to celebrate the best in customer service from around the country at the industry renowned BCSC ACE Awards. Overgate Shopping Centre in Dundee took the top spot and walked away with the coveted ‘Top ACE’ award at the Gala Dinner ceremony.


Launched by BCSC in 2006, the ACE Awards celebrate dedication, commitment and innovation in customer care. This year, comedian Romesh Ranganathan presented the awards as part of BCSC’s Shopping Centre Management Conference, organised in partnership with Shopping Centre magazine at the Holiday Inn, Birmingham.


Four ACE Centre awards were given to Whiteley Shopping Centre, Fareham; Silverburn Shopping Centre, Glasgow; intu Watford and Overgate Shopping Centre, Dundee. Due to the high quality of entries this year, another four ACE Merit awards were distributed to those hot on the heels of the ACE Centre award winners.


Individuals who displayed extraordinary ability in customer service were rewarded at the dinner, with four ACE Superstar and eleven ACE Star awards being handed out. The ACE Superstars were Michael Ball, Cwmbran Shopping Centre; Mariana Chitic, intu Uxbridge; Marie Rennie, Kingdom Shopping Centre and Tony Woolvin, Gunwharf Quays.


The BCSC Shopping Centre Management Conference is an industry-specific education event for shopping centre professionals across the UK, allowing like-minded industry peers to meet, network and learn from the range of expert speakers. This year’s keynote speaker was world renowned journalist Adam Shaw.


Michael Green, Chief Executive, BCSC commented: “With the rise of online retail, it is increasingly important to give customers a reason to come in store and the winners tonight have done just that. I would like to congratulate all of them on a great year and I look forward to seeing them build on this success. This event is an excellent opportunity to bring the industry together and to display the work of those behind the scenes that ensure the success of these centres.”
